Our new topic this term is Planet in Peril the planet has been destroyed by humans and scientists think that this world will become a world of desolation; the school will teach the future generation, us, to protect and care for the planet. But of course save the planet to have fun!
Creative Homework…has been designed to offer
an opportunity for children to assume more responsibility in choosing,
organising, presenting and taking an active role in their learning. Children must complete a minimum of 5 out of the 10 tasks by Friday 12th December 2014. Any children
not completing at least five tasks (one per week) will be required to work at
lunchtimes to catch up during that last week.
The order of the tasks, the choice
of tasks and the frequency of handing in each piece of work is up to the
child. ICT can be used as and where
appropriate and if desired. Homework designs are completely up to the
individual.
This opportunity will enhance
children’s learning, help prepare them for secondary school by taking
responsibility for their homework and also make homework more enjoyable.
1. Create a model in
a shoebox (or similar/smaller box) of a habitat.
2. Design the
front page of a newspaper after an environmental disaster has occurred.
3. Design a word search
using key environmental words.
4. Design a maths
game with a conservation theme.
5. Create a fair
trade product and a poster to advertise it.
6. Research a part of the world affected by climate
change and produce a report about
it.
7. Create 6 mathematical
word problems and answers involving the environment.
8. You have survived an environmental disaster. Write a poem about your experience.
9. Draw a sketch
of a human habitat on another planet, thinking about what humans need to
survive.
10.
Create a quiz (including answers) on an environmental
topic of your choice.
Please note:
When handing in homework,
children must put their name on each piece and tick off the homework chart in
the classroom.
