Week 4 in Year 6

What a busy week of learning we have had. . .

Numeracy: we re-capped how to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000 and we were given a place value resource if we needed it:

At the end we were quizzed on what we had learnt during the lesson and solved some challenges involving numbers up to ten million.

For our history. we investigated primary and secondary sources of information. We looked at the Bayeux tapestry on a website :http://www.bayeuxtapestry.org.uk/Bayeux1.htm to help us understand the battle of Hastings. The Bayeux tapestry is an example of secondary information.

In science, we looked at cogs and tried to make our own versions to help us understand how they are used in the modern world.

To help us further understand the battle of Hastings, we re-enacted it using drama and role play. We then knew exactly how it begun, how the battle unfolded and why the Normans won.

If only the Saxons hadn't broken the shield wall - history could be so different . . .

In gym, we tried doing forward rolls on the mats. Once Mr Faithfull helped us, we got to do it ourselves

We made a sequence in groups to show our skills.

Finally, using our drama re-enactment, we wrote diaries about the 'The Battle Of Hastings and tried our best to use emotion and feeling.
