This week in year 6, we have been cooking a WW2 vegetable stew. To make it more like the 1940s we decided to cook it in a slow cooker as they wouldn't have an oven during that time. They only used root vegetables because during WW2 there was a dig for victory campaign telling people to grow food in their own garden to help rationing.
6F performed a sharing assembly about our topic WW2. We wrote our lines and performances without teacher help. After Mr. Faithfull helped us make the assembly flow, we learnt 2 different songs that we sung in the assembly. And the finishing result on the day, was amazing!
In ICT, we had a special lesson taught by 3 ICT experts (Ben, Faisal and Matthew). They showed us some of the skills on a coding program called trinket.io. We learnt how to make slinks, that were used in WW2. We also learnt how to make different shapes, and patterns.
In PSHE, we learnt about respecting differences such as race, abilities and skills, or hair colour. We learnt why it was important to be nice to each other and to respect them. We wrote down with more advanced language and key words about being kind.
In our literacy lessons, we have also been learning the skills to write a formal letter to someone who is not being evacuated. We had to say tips that would help the person, in case they didn't feel safe. We used the tips based on the posters that were around in WW2.
Year 2 also came in and we assessed their writing. We told them what we liked and the areas they need to do improve. Mr. Faithfull told us to show them our books to see what they are working towards.

Finally, to finish off an exciting week we played some 'trolleyhock' matches in the hall.
