Grammar Tip 2: Past Progressive

In Spelling Punctuation and Grammar we learnt about the Past Progressive rule and how to use it in our writing.

You have to use the past form of 'to be'. These are:

I was
He was
She was
It was
You were
We were
They were

Secondly, follow the Past form of 'to be' with a verb in the present tense. For example:

looking, singing, playing, eating.

These two stages link together to form the Past Progressive, here are some examples:

We were singing in the choir.

I was cycling to school.

She was buying a handbag.

It was eating a doughnut.

They were riding on a roller coaster.
