World Book Day.

We focussed on the Roald Dahl book ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’.  The story, re-told by Rick Mayall on the BBC’s Jackanory programme, started off our morning of activities based around the topic.

Art- After watching a short film in which Quentin Blake explains his process for illustrating books, we had a go at our own sketches in his identifiable style. We used different black pens to find out which suited his style and found that a fine nib gave the best result. Our next task was to design a potion bottle. 2d shapes from the maths drawer helped to form the basis of our bottles. Drawing inks were carefully used to add strong, vibrant colours. Finally some of us designed labels to add to our potion bottles.
