REVISION HOMEWORK IN PREPARATION FOR SATs (week beginning 9th May)

Dear Parent/Carer,

We are writing to advise you about your child’s Year 6 Revision Homework. With the Year 6 Key Stage 2 SAT’s (Week Beginning 9th May 2016) fast approaching, we feel that it is fundamental that over the remaining weeks, your child keeps their mind active with the learning that they have been receiving over the last two terms so that they can achieve their best.

It is important that your child gets a chance to have a break over Easter Holiday, re-charge their batteries and relax away from school as they have worked very hard this term; however we would like them to spend some time on this revision programme.

The children will bring home the following to help them:

·       Their last maths assessment  to correct in a different coloured pen/pencil in order to try to improve their score. Some children will receive additional questions to challenge them whilst others will not be expected to know everything in their original papers.

·     The new Maths Arithmetic 2015 Sample paper which they have seen early in Autumn Term. Please download and use.

·       Their last reading assessment to correct in a different coloured pen/pencil in order to try to improve their score. The reading document will be on the blog.

·       Their last spelling, punctuation and grammar assessment to correct in a different coloured pen/pencil to improve their score. We will expect, due to new terminology, that some question maybe unfamiliar (we will be covering these in school) but any extra independent research would be beneficial.

·      Mathematics, Reading, Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar mark schemes will be available on the blog (below) to check answers or work out problems by seeing the answer.

We suggest that your child revises little and often throughout the remaining weeks until the SATs. We are not envisaging it being used under test conditions, but in short sessions i.e. 15-25mins at one time. Discussing answers with your child will really benefit their development.

Kind regards,

Mrs Lawrence and Mr Taylor
